Ōtepoti Dunedin Embroidery School 2021
20 & 21 March, 2021
Inspired by the motifs from a 1666 sampler featured in the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), this little pot (80mm diameter; height 70mm) is lined with dupion silk and features many different stitches and techniques. Some will be well known to stitchers, and others are more unusual and not often seen on modern designs.
All the stitches used in the design will be covered in class, but the project will probably not be fully completed within the two-day time frame.
The embroiderer will also use a range of different weight silk threads in plain and variegated colours on overdyed 28 count linen. These, combined with the use of different stitches create texture and light within the motif’s structure. The construction aspect of the project will be outlined in class and full notes given.
Choices of linen (colour) and silks are available to personalise your project.
Part kit (Linen, silk threads and comprehensive class notes) $49.55
Full Kit (Linen, silks threads, comprehensive class notes and all lining and construction materials) $70.55
