Techniques used: Weaving, long and short stitch, spider stitch, french knots
The weaving on the Paisley Swirl looks like you have inserted a check or tartan fabric. There is a variety of surface stitching which enhance the weaving, all worked in a single strand of cotton or silk threads. Very little threads are required – a chance to use what you already have in your stash box

Level of skill required: Intermediate (with some embroidery experience)
Tutor Profile – Judy Mason
Judy has been a member of the Otago Embroidery Guild for many years. She was taught needlework at King Edward Technical College by the late Helen Moran and enjoys all aspects of embroidery. Judy loves using a variety of colours together to create an image, it is like painting. Judy has taught at Wanaka 2013, 2015 and 2017, OEG and May Day and enjoys going to classes and learning new techniques. Judy’s exhibit for Fabric in Time was featured on the cover of the ANZEG 2020 diary.
