Ōtepoti Dunedin Embroidery School 2021
11 & 12 September, 2021
In this class, we will explore how some very basic paint techniques can be used to create the basis of a unique one of a kind embroidery with a botanical theme. Stitching and paint will combine together to create a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece of art.
The class will be suitable for anyone from beginners through to experienced stitchers, and absolutely no experience with paint is required. There is plenty of scope for the more experienced stitchers to add in more advanced embroidery techniques if desired.
The finished item would be suitable for framing, and dependant on the choice of embroidery techniques used, may also be applied to other finished items, eg cushions, bags or clothing.
Finished item in picture measures 25.5cm x 30.5cm
Experience required: Suitable for beginners in both paint and stitch.
A life-long creative, dabbling in many different mediums, I have long been fascinated by the process of stitching, and have been using needle and thread since the age of 6. Taking up embroidery more seriously around 8 years ago, my embroidery interests cover both traditional and contemporary styles. I am interested in incorporating non traditional subjects and techniques with traditional embroidery skills to create unique pieces of art.
My style of teaching is very relaxed, encouraging sharing of ideas and techniques, and the embracing of ‘happy accidents’ in the creative journey – there are no ‘wrongs’. I strongly believe the journey of creating is as important, if not more important than the finished piece, and I encourage all students to follow their own path and inspirations in my class.
Class Cost: $110.00
